Obituary

Adeline A. "Fish" Bousek, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died late Monday, April 3, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness.

Funeral Mass: 9:00 A.M. Friday at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Father Christopher Podhajsky. Burial will follow at Saint John's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2nd Street S.E., where the rosary will begin at 5:00 P.M.

Adeline is survived by her children, Robert (Diane) Bousek, Cedar Rapids and Karen Edwards, Marion; grandchildren, Nicole (Matthew) Arnold, Cedar Rapids, Jennifer (Zain) Haq, Omaha, Nebraska, Katelynn (Kevin) Schuver, Cedar Rapids, Allison Edwards, Marion, Ann (Matt) Prane, Stittsville, Ontario, Canada, and Robert Jr. (Hannah) Bousek, Cedar Rapids; great-grandchildren, Erin and Emma Arnold, Paisley Schuver and Daniel, Jacob, Jason and Samuel Prane.; sister, Helen (Francis) Possehl, Springville.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Joseph; son-in-law, Larry Edwards; parents, Jan and Marie (Cindr) Barton; sister, Mary Krieg and her brother, Johnnie Barton, a marine killed on
Okinawa during World War II.

Adeline was born July 26, 1926 in Cedar Rapids and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Saint Wenceslaus High School in 1944 and played on the school basketball team. Adeline married Joseph E. Bousek on May 1, 1948 at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Joe died on March 31, 2007. She had worked at Iowa National Mutual Insurance Company and bowled on the Iowa National team.

Adeline was a lifelong member of Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church and belonged to the church's Golden Oldies Seniors Group, the Visiting Angels and Saint Bridget's circle. She had served as a Eucharistic minister at Saint Wenceslaus Church, counted the weekly financial support collection and served on various committees at the church.

She had served as a Eucharistic minister at Mercy Medical Center. Adeline had served on the Regis High School Board and the Saint Wenceslaus School Board. She also served on the absentee voting board during elections. Adeline was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Cadets of Saint George Branch 45 F.C.S.L.A. (formerly Catholic Workman).

She and Joe enjoyed camping, square dancing and attending all the athletic and musical activities of their children and grandchildren. Adeline loved her grandchildren and enjoyed baking their favorite cookies, cakes and mints. She loved cooking for her family whom she loved dearly.

Memorial contributions may be given to Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
