Alexandria R. Carstens, 25, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday evening, December 5, 2018 at UnityPoint Health-Saint Luke's Hospital following a brief illness.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 P.M. Monday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2 ^nd Street S.E., Cedar Rapids. Private family graveside services will be held at Saint John's Cemetery with Father Christopher Podhajsky officiating.

Alexandria is survived by her parents, Gary and Debbie (Kimbro) Carstens, Cedar Rapids; brother, Grant Carstens and fiancée Kayla Stewart, Cedar Rapids; half-sister, Melissa Kimbro, Cedar Rapids; aunts, Marilyn LeClere, Cedar Rapids and Karen (Leonard) Smith, Dysart; uncle, Ed (Cherie) Kimbro and their children, Brandon Kimbro and Mindy Lavelle, all of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Howard and Deloris (Huber) Kimbro and her maternal great-grandparents, Edward and Ann (Yirkovsky) Huber.

Alexandria was born May 17, 1993 in Cedar Rapids and was a lifelong resident. She had been employed at Goodwill Industries.

Alexandria was fascinated with horses and tornadoes and should have been a "storm chaser". She enjoyed working all kinds of puzzles and loved taking pictures. Alex enjoyed watching Disney movies, especially "Elf" and "Grinch". Her brother Grant said that "She was the most selfless person I ever met – always helping other people".

A memorial fund has been established.
