Betty Jane Nemec, 97, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Harmony, Cedar Rapids, where she was a long-time resident. Visitation: 11:30–1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2026, Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, 1228 2nd Street SE, Cedar Rapids, 52401. Burial will follow the visitation at Czech National Cemetery.

Betty was born January 4, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of John L. and Barbara (Sejba) Nemec. She graduated from Wilson School before making her way into the work world. Betty retired from the Merchants National Bank in 1991 after 43 years of service.

Betty is survived by two nephews, Richard (Julie) and John Nemec; and many great nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded by her parents and brother, Leonard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, or the American Diabetes Association.
