Betty Jane (Quigley) Machacek, 92, of Cedar Rapids, was born into this world June 14, 1924 in Tipton, Iowa and entered into eternal life October 14, 2016.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by Father Wayne Droessler. Burial will follow at Czech National Cemetery. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service is serving the family.
Betty is survived by her son Dick and daughter-in-law Lori, Cedar Rapids; as well as several nieces and nephews in Iowa and California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, daughter, Karen Machacek, parents, Richard and Kathryn Quigley and her sister and husband, Marcella and Donald Dillon of Sacramento, California.
In her life, Betty was a loving and caring wife and mother. She showed care and kindness to her fellow men through her forty years of service at Mercy Hospital as a registered nurse and by joining the Cadet Nurse program in World War II.
Betty's friends will remember her for a keen sense of humor and her ability to laugh at life and herself.
Betty's family wishes to thank Hospice of Mercy, Village Ridge of Marion and Heritage Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care she received over the past three years. The family also wishes to thank all who will be thinking of her and saying a private prayer.
