Carol Ann Hook, 65, of Marion, died Monday afternoon, May 14, 2012 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
Funeral Services: 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 "J" Street S.W. by Pastor Tim Carter of the First Church of the Nazarene, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call after 9:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral chapel. Burial: Czech National Cemetery.
Carol is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Christine Wolfe, Marion and Greg Wolfe and wife Jacki, Monticello; grandchildren, Jacob Wolfe and Isaac and Joshua Wolfe and a special friend, Jan Schnipkoweit, Mechanicsville.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Wolfe, parents, Louis Jr. and Helen (Shulista) Sojka and sister, Mary Lou Henry.
Carol was born September 3, 1946 in Cedar Rapids and was a lifelong resident of the Cedar Rapids and Marion area. She married Richard K. Hook on March 14, 1997 in Cedar Rapids.
Carol had worked as an over-the-road truck driver for 32 years and during that time had also been a school bus driver in Cedar Rapids and Mount Vernon for 15 years.
She attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Cedar Rapids and was a member of Lodge Prokop Velky #137 C.S.A. and Saint Mary's Society #119 Czech Catholic Union.
Carol had received the Safe Driving Award for her many years of accident-free truck driving. She enjoyed traveling and woodworking, especially building birdhouses, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Memorial contributions in Carol's name may be given to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
