Obituary

David Alan Woodward, 75, of Garnett Place, passed away at his home Wednesday, August 22, 2018.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2 nd Street S.E., with the Rev. Reggie Daniel officiating. Burial will follow at Saint John's Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

David is survived by two sons, Gary (Brenda) of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Chris of Waterloo; sister, Shirley Burnett; granddaughters, Alexandra, Samantha and Kaitlyn Woodward.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Donna; his daughter, Lucinda "Cindy" Woodward; his parents, Mark Henry III and Ann (Johnson) Woodward and his brother, Mark Henry Woodward IV.

David also leaves to his family his faithful sidekick, Lollipop, his Jack Russell terrier who was always by his side.

David was born July 22, 1943 in Cedar Rapids and was raised in Marion. He was a 1961 graduate of Marion High School and lived his whole life in the Marion and Cedar Rapids area. He married Donna Marie Krejci on December 13, 1969 in Cedar Rapids. Donna died June 8, 2018. David retired from the Laborers' Union in 2005.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having served from March 9, 1965 to March 8, 1967.

David was a devoted husband to Donna, a loving father to Gary, Christopher and Cindy and a proud grandfather of Alexandra, Samantha and Kaitlyn.

The family would like to thank the staff at Garnett Place for their dedicated and compassionate care of David.

Military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Moomey-Vogel Post 727.
