Obituary

Diane Lucile Miller, 75, of Cedar Rapids, passed away after a battle with Alzheimer's and Dementia peacefully at home on Sunday, January 26, 2020. She was with her loving husband, Terry, by her side.

A visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, at New Covenant Bible Church in Robins, Iowa. The funeral service will start at 1:30 p.m. with a meal to follow.

Terry took excellent care of Diane in their home until the end. He proved and showed daily the full and abiding love he had for her. Diane will be remembered as a beautiful Christian woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to many. She will be missed greatly.

Diane was born October 10, 1944, at the Army Air Corp base in Dodge City, Kansas, the daughter of Edward and Margaret Kvarda. She grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and attended Harrison Grade School and Roosevelt Junior High School. In 1962, she graduated from Jefferson High School. On November 2, 1962, she married her sweetheart since 7 th grade, Terry Miller

Together Diane and Terry raised two boys, Dan and Todd. Diane was able to stay home and groom dogs while raising her boys. Diane always considered her daughters-in-law as her own. She loved all of her extended family as well as Terry's extended family. Terry's family also loved and adored Diane as one of their own. Terry often joked that they loved her more than him!

Diane loved animals. She had a horse growing up, as well as dogs, a duck, rabbit and bird as an adult. She was nicknamed by some as "Snow White", as she would save and nurture back to health birds, raccoons and any other animal she would find injured.

Diane grew up often camping and enjoying water sports on the Cedar River after her father hand-built his family a houseboat in 1950. Family and friends were always invited to join in the fun on the Cedar River by water skiing, fishing, exploring, swinging from trees into the water, playing badminton, enjoying bonfires and having mud slinging fights.

Diane received Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord in 1970, then led her kids, mom, dad, and brother to the Lord. Diane and her family attended Edgewood Baptist Church. She lived her life with Jesus as the center of everything.

Diane and Terry were very involved in their church. They were part of the Awana Club leadership team, meeting every Wednesday. About 108 kids joined in singing praises to The Lord, studying the Bible, having campouts, lock-ins, and competing in games with one another as well as with other churches. A large number of youth accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior during this time.

Diane is survived by her husband, Terry; two sons, Dan (Tanya) and Todd (Tasha); a brother, Jerry Kvarda, and four grandchildren, Anthony, Macey, Andrew and Marissa; sisters-in-law, Susan Hoagland, Taylor Miller and Toni Iseman; brothers-in-law, Steve Miller and Dave Hoagland; many cousins, especially Linda Fussell; many nieces and nephews; and aunt, Jessie Stastny. She was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law, Maxine Stastny Miller.

The family would like to thank Hospice for their compassionate care in her last days. The family also thanks Milestones Day Care for giving Diane so much enjoyment during her visits with them. We give a huge thank you to everyone that was a part of Diane's wonderful life.
