Obituary

Dolores Mae Prucha, 102, of Cedar Rapids, died at Mercy Hallmar Monday afternoon, May 29, 2017.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Father Christopher Podhajsky. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Walker. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Friday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2nd Street S.E., where a vigil service begins at 6:30 P.M. followed by a rosary at 7:00 P.M.

Dolores is survived by her three children, Donna Mae Banks and husband Lloyd, Robert "R.G." Prucha and wife Bonny and Connie F. Wilbanks, all of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Theresa Schmickle, Cedar Rapids, Leo Wood and wife Mary Alice, Garner and Betty Plavik, Moline, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Nancy Rice, Dennis Enneking, Julie Thede, Kathy Bissell, Sharon Enneking, Robert Prucha III and Brian Prucha; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Everett and Florance (Reilly) Wood; sisters, Henrietta Michael and Dorothy Pratt and brothers, LeRoy Wood and Joseph Wood.

Dolores was born April 29, 1915 in Cedar Rapids and was a lifelong resident. She married Robert George Prucha on June 20, 1936 in Walker, Iowa. He died May 31, 1991.

Dolores was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was also a 50 year member of Women of the Moose and a member of the Cedar Rapids Woman's Club. Dolores enjoyed playing bridge, was a member of several bridge clubs and loved playing cards with her many friends. She was also an avid bowler and was instrumental in coaching junior bowling. In earlier years, she enjoyed gardening.

Dolores' family would like to thank the nurses both at Mercy Hallmar and Hospice of Mercy for the kind and loving care she received.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Immaculate Conception Capital Campaign or a charity of the donor's choice.
