Donald "Donnie" Lee Bascom, 65, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 following a long illness. A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Thursday at the Cedar Rapids Eagles Club. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service is serving the family.

Donnie is survived by his sister, Donna (John) Williams, Exeter, California; his brother, Keith Bascom and sister, Patricia Bascom, both of Cedar Rapids and many cousins, nephews and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Donnie was born September 18, 1952 and raised in Belle Plaine. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1976. Donnie worked for Nighthawk Security Company and later for Elite Flagging for 40 years.

Donnie lived a full life surrounded by friends and family. His best friend, Jim Young, was considered by Donnie as a member of his extended family.
