Donald M. Schmitz, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday evening, August 26, 2017.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 2nd, at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2nd Street S.E., with visitation one hour before the services.

Donald was born January 27, 1931, the son of A. F. "Tony" and Laura Ann (Nolan) Schmitz. After attending country school, he graduated from Van Horne Consolidated Schools. Donald married Barbara Viktor of Cedar Rapids on September 25, 1950.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include: his wife, Barbara; son, Mike (Pam) of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Joseph (Robyn) of Atkins, Benjamin (Joanne) of Cedar Rapids, Carrie (Mason) Hoffman of Newhall, and Jakub (Aarika) of Cedar Rapids; six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
