Edmund Thomas Anderson, an amazing father, grandfather, husband, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2026, at St. Lukes Hospital, Cedar Rapids, unexpectedly due to prior health conditions. He was 48 years old. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ed was born on December 6, 1977, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Thomas and Judith (Krapfl) Anderson. The youngest of five children.
Ed was a simple man who loved the little things in life. He enjoyed every minute by living in the moment. He enjoyed football, watching wrestling, and yelling at the television when it was getting hectic. He enjoyed music. He would yell random lyrics just to see if anyone could finish the song. He was the funniest person you could have met. He could put a smile on your face no matter what. He enjoyed being a dad. He enjoyed being a grandpa. His two favorite roles in life were being a dad and a grandpa. He succeeded tremendously in both of these. He enjoyed being a husband. You could talk to him for five minutes and all he would talk about was his children, his grandchildren, and his wife.
He had a huge heart, lived hard, fiercely loyal, and very protective, he was sweet, and he was so full of life all of the time. He has made an impact on so many people’s lives. He had left an impression on everyone he has came into contact with. Ed will be so missed by all of the people who has known him.
Ed is survived by his wife, Carrie Hanson; children, Destiny (Cidnee) Anderson, Victoria (LeAndre Brown) Anderson, and Madison Anderson; grandchildren, Paisley-Mae Anderson, Le’Ana Brown, and one on the way Eden ; and siblings, Mike Taylor, Richard Taylor, and Kietha Taylor.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; Thomas Anderson and Judith Anderson and sister, Jacqueline Manternach.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2026, details of where will be shared with family and friends once arrangements are finished.
