Elario Ogido Ayiaga Yemba, 69, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday morning, August 8, 2012 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Saint Matthew's Catholic Church with Rev. David Beckman officiating. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 A.M. Friday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2nd Street S.E. and after 9:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. A vigil service begins at 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Elario is survived by his wife, Bendata Goliba Olivona; 2 sons and a daughter, including Matthew Jengwa, Cedar Rapids and 6 grandchildren.
Elario was born May 5, 1943 in Pageri, Sudan and came to Cedar Rapids from Khartoum with his wife in 2007. He was a sergeant in the Sudanese military. Elario was a member of Saint Matthew's Catholic Church.
