Elmer L. Doskocil, 91, of Cedar Rapids, passed away early Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Mercy Hallmar.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Father Christopher Podhajsky. Burial will follow at Saint John's Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2nd Street S.E., where a rosary begins at 6:30 P.M.
Elmer is survived by his wife of 67 years, Louise Cejka Doskocil; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Gina Doskocil, Cedar Hill, Texas; grandsons, Brett Doskocil, Plano, Texas and Ryan Doskocil, Lewisville, Texas; and a sister, Arlene Pospisil, Lisbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Elsie (Pavlis) Doskocil; brother, Lumir Doskocil, Fairfax and sister, Gladys Tesar, Springville.
Elmer was born February 27, 1924 in Cedar Rapids and was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and the Cedar Rapids Business College. He married Louise A. Cejka on July 20, 1948 at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
Elmer was employed at First Trust and Savings Bank for 44 years and after retiring as Vice President, he served as a volunteer at Mercy Medical Center for 9 years. He loved his family and was a gracious and giving man.
Elmer was a member of Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking and baseball games.
