Obituary

.Emma Frances Gallagher, 98, of Hamburg, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the George C. Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg following a short illness.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at Saint Ludmila Catholic Church by Father Dennis Juhl. Burial: Saint John's Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M. Monday at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 "J" Street S.W. and after 9:30 A.M. Tuesday at the church.

Emma is survived by two sons, Dr. Michael J. Gallagher of Hamburg and William N. Gallagher and wife Moria of Hugo, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Moreen Roe and husband Lee, Maplewood, Minnesota and Liam Gallagher of Hugo, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hulbert "Mike" Gallagher, parents, Alois and Mary (Bousek) Dunek, stepmother, Sophia (Shimek) Dunek and five brothers, Joseph, Frank, Louis, George and Charlie Dunek.

Emma was born March 14, 1915 in Cedar Rapids and was a lifelong resident until moving with her husband to Hamburg following the flood of June, 2008. She married Hulbert M. "Mike" Gallagher on October 25, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. He died February 8, 2009. Emma was employed for many years as a printer at the Souvenir Pen and Pencil Company until her retirement.
Emma was a member of Saint Ludmila Catholic Church.

A memorial fund has been established.
