Gary Stodola

Gary Joseph Stodola, 86, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at St. Lukes Hospital Cedar Rapids, surrounded by his loving wife and children, Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2026, St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, with a visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. Burial: St. John’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Gary was born on June 10, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Lester and Alma (Bezdek) Stodola. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Paul at St. Patrick Catholic Church in 1961.

Gary enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeye Football, Hawkeye Marching Band, the Green Bay Packers, going to Disney World, decorating year-round for holidays, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his children, Carol Heck, Cynthia “Cindy” (John) Beasley, and Paul (Karla) Stodola; grandchildren, Taylor (Tyler), Megan (Justin), Jake (Kate), Molly, and Paige (Aaron); great-grandchildren, Max, Ruby, Sawyer, Brooks, Finn, Willow, and one on the way; siblings, Jan Joens, Ken (Carol) Stodola, and Sharon (Mike) Brown; sister-in-law, Sue Klees; and many nieces & nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family in care of Mary Ann Stodola.
