Hattie M. Drahos, 94, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Bertram, died Wednesday morning, January 2, 2019, at Saint Luke's Living Center West.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 A.M. Monday at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Fathers Christopher Podhajsky and James Secora. Burial: Saint John's Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 P.M. Sunday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2 nd Street S.E., where a rosary begins at 4:30 P.M.
Hattie is survived by her children; Larry Drahos, Bertram, Diane Drahos and Charlie (Lisa) Drahos, both of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and an infant sister, Rita Jarosh.
Hattie was born March 15, 1924 in Little Turkey, Iowa, the daughter of Charles L. and Edith (Shada) Jarosh. She and her family moved from Little Turkey to Cedar Rapids in 1932. She was a 1943 graduate of Saint Wenceslaus High School. Before her marriage, Hattie was employed by the Cherry-Burrell Corporation and later in the cafeteria at Wilson & Company Meat Packing Plant. Hattie married Louis F. Drahos on July 9, 1952 at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Louis died on November 9, 1993.
Hattie was a member of Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church and the Cadets of Saint George Branch W045 F.C.S.L.A. (formerly Catholic Workman). She enjoyed reading, listening to music and dancing. Hattie was a wonderful mother and homemaker and an excellent cook and baker.
The Drahos family would like to thank Gina, a nurse at Therapy Solutions, for her care of Hattie while she was in her home and also the staff at Living Center West for all of the great care and compassion that she received while a resident there.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
