Hildegard M. "Sue" Cerveny, 95, of Cedar Rapids, died unexpectedly at her home Friday, June 29, 2018.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday at Saint Ludmila Catholic Church by Father Kenneth Glaser. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2

Street S.E., and after 9:30 A.M. Friday at the church. A vigil service begins at 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Sue is survived by eight children, Lynda Palmer, Cedar Rapids, Gerry Cerveny, Frisco, Texas, Jane Calloway, Saint Louis, Missouri, Carole (Monty) Jost, Clinton, Sharon (Jeff) Burco, Las Vegas, Nevada, Karen (John) Sedenka, Lisbon, James Cerveny, Iowa City and John (Terri) Cerveny, Schenectady, New York; daughter-in-law, Sandra Cerveny, Flossmoor, Illinois; sister, Jo Ann Reinert, Donna, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Cerveny, son, Harold J. Cerveny, parents and four siblings.
Sue was born December 26, 1922 in Oyens, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Goetzinger) Schnepf. She moved to Cedar Rapids in 1944 from Oyens. Sue married Harold L. Cerveny on October 28, 1946 in Oyens and he died March 25, 1986. Sue was employed at Communications Engineering Company until her retirement.
She was a member of Saint Ludmila Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society and Saint Anne's Circle. She was a member and past president of LADOS. Sue was an active volunteer at the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library, Brucemore and the area Food Bank.
Sue, a lifelong Hawkeye fan, attended the 1959 Rose Bowl game in California and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and pinochle player.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Iowa Public Broadcasting Service and Saint Ludmila Catholic Church.
