Jeannie Louise Slaman, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19,
2025, at the Mercy Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.

Jeannie was born on November 11, 1940, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Annabelle Sedlak. She later
moved to Cedar Rapids, where at the age of 17, she met the love of her life, Jimmie Slaman, at a
church dance. From the moment they met, she knew he was the one. They married in 1959 and
were looking forward to celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary this July.

Jeannie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her beloved husband,
Jimmie Slaman; her children, Jeffrey Slaman, Julie Slaman (Joe Gluba), and Jodie Slaman Frondle
(Mikey); her cherished grandson, Jasen Slaman; her brother Norbert Sedlak (Karla); and her sister, MaDonna Walkner.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Annabelle Sedlak; and her nephew, Norbert Sedlak Jr.

Jeannie was known for her vibrant spirit and many passions. She was a dedicated and
accomplished bridge player, proudly earning the title of Life Master. She had a deep love for music
and dancing. She also enjoyed spending time at the casino with her husband.

Above all, Jeannie was the heart of her home-an extraordinary homemaker who created a warm, welcoming life for her family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 23, at St. George Orthodox Church, 3650 Cottage
Grove Ave SE, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at
10:00 a.m. Burial will take place immediately afterward at St. George Cemetery, 1603 12th Ave SE,
Cedar Rapids.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Mercy Hospice House for their compassionate care during
Jeannie's final days.
