Cada
July 13, 1962 – October 30, 2022
Jerry James Cada, 60, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 30, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a hard-fought battle with AML Leukemia while surrounded by his wife and children, who he adored more than anything else in the world. A Celebration of Jerry's Life will be held from 5- 8 P.M. Wednesday, November 9th in Prairie Oak Lodge at Wanatee Park in Marion. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service is serving the family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ida; daughters, Andrea Millard (Ben) and Marissa Cada (Zach Ward); his siblings, Jim Cada (Susanne) and Marie Santiago (Perry Knight); his grandkids, Grandpa's little buddy Bryson, Blakely and Boston, and mother-in-law Joyce Netolicky.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Luke; his parents, James and Marie (Domanek) Cada and his father-in-law, Arlo Netolicky.
Jerry was born July 13, 1962 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Czech immigrants, and had lived in the Cedar Rapids and Shueyville areas his entire life. He was a graduate of LaSalle High School and Mount Mercy College; he married Ida S. Netolicky on August 20, 1988 in Cedar Rapids. Jerry worked for many years at Alliant Energy until deciding to run his Dairy Queen business on Johnson Avenue full-time.
Jerry was proud of his Czech heritage and was a member of Lodge Prokop Velky 137 C.S.A. He enjoyed traveling, history, family game nights, and was a die-hard Cubs fan, but most of all he loved spending time with his precious grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics Holden Cancer Center for the outstanding love, care, and support they showed Jerry while he was in their care.
