Joan Eileen Boots Wassmer's Obituary
Joan Eileen Boots Wassmer, 78, of Ely, left the earth to join her Savior in heaven Saturday, December 10, 2016.
She was born the daughter of Vada L. (Coleman) Boots and Wilbur E. Boots in her grandparents' home in Stone City, Iowa on July 12, 1938. On June 19, 1960 she married Warren L. Wassmer, her soulmate and the love of her life. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before Warren's passing in 2010.
Joan is survived by two children, Webb L. (Jolene) Wassmer of Marion and Warreena L. Winkowski of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Jessica Winkowski, Kat Herder, Kaden, Kylie, Briella and Zachary Wassmer; her sister, Darlene Crew of Coralville and her brother, Kenneth Boots of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, stepfather, Wilbur Worden, three unborn children and her brother Richard Boots.
Per her wishes there will be no funeral services. She did not wish tears to be shed for her. Joan had a strong faith and a loving heart.
Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church of Marion or the Parkinson's Research Foundation.
