Obituary

John Edward Craft Jr., 67, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday evening, July 5, 2017 at Crestview Acres Care Center, Marion.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2nd Street S.E. with Deacon Jim Berger officiating. Burial with military graveside services will follow at Saint John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10:00 A.M. Saturday.

John has no immediate survivors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Edward and Irene Betty (Kosina) Craft and his German shepherd, Max.

John was born July 18, 1949 in Cedar Rapids and was a lifelong resident. As a youth, he was a member of Saint Ludmila Catholic Church and attended parochial school there. John was a 1967 graduate of La Salle High School. He had worked at Penick & Ford, Ltd. and later as a mechanic at Metro Harley-Davidson Suzuki.

John was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 788 and a member of the NRA. John was a member of Guardians of Saint Joseph Branch W137 FCSLA (formerly Catholic Workman).

Hunting and going to the shooting range for target practice were some of John's favorite pastimes. He loved to race motorcycles and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was thrilled to see them win the World Series.

Military graveside services will be provided by V.F.W. Post 788.
