Jon Steven Homsey, 66, of Carson, California, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Cedar-Sinai Hospital, Los Angeles, California. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, 1228 2nd Street SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52401, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Visitation: 4:00-6:00 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2026, Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 25, 2026, Saint George Orthodox Church, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Saint George Orthodox Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow the burial at Springs of Life Church, 2300 26th St NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405.
Jon was born on April 22, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Walter Homsey Jr. and Janet (Haddad). He graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Jon was an avid competition shooter, a passion that reflected his steady hand, sharp eye, and determined spirit. He took great pride in the skill and discipline the sport required. Yet, for all his achievements, his greatest happiness was found in the presence of his grandchildren. He cherished every moment with them, creating memories filled with laughter, patience, and love that will be remembered for years to come.
Jon is survived by children, Crystal (fiancé, Gabe) Bell, Michelle (Jeremy) Roth, and Stacia Jennings; grandchildren, Sydney (Matt), Bailey, Hayden, Madison, Hannah, Morgan, Alexander, and Gwyneth; great-grandchildren, Alice, Quinn, and Emery; siblings, Walter Homsey III, Teresa (Ray) Campbell, Michael (Theresa) Homsey, and Amanda Homsey; and step-sister, Laura Bargar.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lisa Jensen.
