Judy Teply

Judy Teply, 92, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at The Meth-Wick Community, Cedar Rapids.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2026, St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, with a visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. Burial: St. John’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East is assisting the family with services.

Judy was born on July 1, 1933, in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Dr. Jerome and Marie (Dostal) Jecmenek. She was united in marriage to Donald Teply, her high school sweetheart, on June 25, 1955, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church.

After getting married, Judy worked at Penford Products in administration. She was a faithful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. After working at Penford, she had a variety of jobs while the “boys” were growing up including, water safety instructor with the Red Cross, an apple picker for Kazimour Orchard, Swiss Colony at Westdale Mall, and Weight Watchers

Judy and Don enjoyed the many years wintering in Texas and spending summers at their cabin in Wisconsin. Judy gave her heart and soul to many volunteer opportunities including Master Gardners, St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church, and The Meth-Wick Community.

Judy is survived by her children, Michael (Patti) Teply, Mark (Patty) Teply, Matthew (Barb) Teply, and Martin (Maria) Teply; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Suzy Wilber; brother-in-law, Richard Teply; and many relatives and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Cookie Wegner and Joan McCord.
