Ken A. Davidson, 60, of Fairfax, died Sunday morning, February 7, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church Cedar Rapids by Father Dustin Vu of Saint John XXIII Catholic Church. Burial: Czech National Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2nd Street S.E., Cedar Rapids.
Ken is survived by his wife, Shirley Magner-Davidson; his daughter, Amanda of Pella, Iowa and 3 grandchildren. He is also survived by an aunt and uncle, Lottie and Roman Volesky of Shueyville and an aunt, Alice Stick of Surprise, Arizona; several cousins and a special family friend, Rose Marie "Cookie" Vanous of Springville, as well as brothers-in-law, Dr. Clement Magner and Thomas Magner and sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Magner (Steve Carpenter), Peggy Magner and Cheryl Magner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Emma (Zaspal) Davidson.
Ken was born on February 3, 1956 in Cedar Rapids and was a lifelong resident of the Cedar Rapids area. He was a 1974 graduate of Jefferson High School and graduated from the Automotive Technology Program at Kirkwood Community College. Ken worked with his father, Harold, at Davidson's Auto Shop for many years and since his father's death in 2004, he had owned and operated the business. Ken married Shirley A. Magner on June 11, 2010 at Saint Matthew's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids.
He and his wife were members of Saint John XXIII Catholic Church. Ken was a member of Lodge Hawkeye 423 W.F.L.A.
Ken enjoyed gardening, doing yard work around his home and watching NASCAR racing on television. He liked to ride his motorcycle and tinker with mechanical "challenges" at the auto shop.
