Louise is survived by her son Mark and wife Gina of Prosper, Texas; grandson, Brett (Adrianna) and great-granddaughter, Jade of Garland, Texas; and grandson, Ryan and great-granddaughter, Mia of Dallas, Texas.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Elmer; brothers, Ernest and Francis Cejka; and sister, Jo Ann Tresnak.
Born Louise Ann Cejka on March 17, 1927 to Ernest and Anna Cejka, she was raised on a small farm near Bertram, Iowa. Louise developed a strong work ethic at an early age, completing her daily farm chores while helping raise her younger brother and sister. A graduate of McKinley High School, she met and fell in love with Elmer Doskocil at a ballroom dance in Fairfax, Iowa and they were proudly married for 67 years as life-long residents of Cedar Rapids.
Serving others was the hallmark of Louise's life. From her childhood years she carried on and applied her devotion as a nursing assistant to pediatric and adult patients at Mercy Medical Center for the greater part of her adult life. Upon retirement she continued her service to others as a volunteer at Mercy. Louise developed countless friendships with the sisters and health care staff at Mercy who reciprocated in their tender love and care for her as a resident of Mercy Hallmar during the last seven years of her life.
Louise's favorite pastimes were collecting recipes, baking some of the world's best kolaches, sewing, puzzles, her love for dogs, going for marathon walks, listening to polka music on the Sunday morning Czech Party, fishing and attending Cedar Rapids evening baseball games with her husband. She prided herself in maintaining an immaculate household with everything in its proper place.
Louise was a devout Catholic attending Saint Wenceslaus Church and assisting with their fund raisers including Czech Goulash Days and making kolaches.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Well done, good and faithful servant. God bless you, Mom.
