Marilyn Kay Roisum, 69, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, November 11, 2021.
A Celebration of Marilyn's Life will be held from 2 to 6 P.M. Saturday, November 20 th , at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2 nd Street S.E., Cedar Rapids.
Marilyn's family includes her husband of 40 years, Bob; daughters, Ronda Hicks and husband, Johnathan and their daughter, Olivia Hicks; and Heather Adams and husband, Daniel "D.J." and their children, Wilhelm "Nate" Wiedow and Savannah Adams; and a sister, Rosalie Prescott and husband, Jim.
Marilyn was born September 13, 1952 in Forest City, Iowa and grew up with her family in nearby Klemme. She married Robert D. Roisum on October 10, 1981 in Fort Dodge and had lived throughout the Midwest for the last 40 years. Marilyn and Bob had lived in the Saint Louis, Missouri area for 15 years until moving to Cedar Rapids four years ago.
Involved as an office manager in the field of retail sales, Marilyn has been described by co-workers as a "wonderful lady who was highly skilled and possessed unparalleled people skills". "She was also a pleasure to be around and amazing to work both with and for, always patient and happy regardless of the situation".
Marilyn loved to bake, which was a skill she developed later in life. She baked cookies for co-workers, family and local nursing homes and friends. She was also very proud of her garden at home. She was always changing up her plants and weeding her garden.
Marilyn was a fanatical college wrestling fan. She loved following the Iowa Hawkeyes and adored her University of Northern Iowa Panthers. Marilyn and Bob had to arrive 90 minutes early for UNI meets to get seats "Front Row Center" just inches away from the mat.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the UNI Wrestling Scholarship Program.
