Mary Ellen Sanchez's Obituary
Mary Ellen Sanchez, 58, of Woodward, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday morning, May 21, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2nd Street S.E. by Sister Linda Bechen. Burial: Saint John's Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mary Ellen is survived by her mother, Violet Sanchez, Cedar Rapids; sister, Marcelina (Bruce) Luedeman, Central City; brothers, William "Boomer" Sanchez, Randall Sanchez and Antonio Sanchez, all of Cedar Rapids; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She also had her extended group home family for many years at the Woodward Resource Center, Woodward, Iowa.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her father Lucio Sanchez, sisters, Juanita Halvorsen, Geraldina Varner and Annette Sanchez, and grandparents Marcelina and Alfredo Ruiz and Ivah and Clyde Chesmore.
Mary Ellen was born June 17, 1956 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Lucio and Violet Sanchez.
Mary Ellen's family extends warm gratitude to the staff at the Woodward Resource Center for the care and love they gave Mary over all the years.
