Maxine V. Kaplan, 92, a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, died at her home Tuesday, October 30, 2012.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Saint Ludmila Catholic Church with Rev. Dennis Juhl officiating. Private family burial will be held at Czech National Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Friday at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 "J" Street S.W. and after 9:30 A.M. Saturday at the church. A rosary begins at 4:00 P.M. and a vigil service at 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral chapel.

Maxine is survived by her two daughters, Karolyn K. Lang (Clark) and Linda S. Blaise (Ardell), both of Texas; four grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin "Mike", her parents, William and Veronica Milke, two sisters and a brother.

Maxine was born July 7, 1920 and was a graduate of McKinley High School. She married the love of her life, Mike Kaplan on September 16, 1939 in Cedar Rapids.

Maxine was a member of Saint Ludmila Catholic Church, sang in the church's Resurrection Choir and was a member of Saint Ann's Circle.

A loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was always there for her family and friends and her arms were always open for the children.

The last seven years, Maxine was a resident of Cottage Grove Place. She leaves behind many people who she touched throughout the years and her smile will be greatly missed.
