Obituary

Mr. McKenzly "Mack" Wilson, 79, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017, at UnityPoint Health-Saint Luke's Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 9th, at Bethel AME Church, 512 6th Street S.E., Cedar Rapids. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family.

Mr. McKenzly Wilson was born March 15, 1938 in Eufaula, Alabama to Jack and Ozella Wilson. He graduated from Van Buren High School in 1955 and from Tuskegee University in 1960. On April 20, 1960, he married Lela Priscilla McElroy in Eufaula. McKenzly married his present wife, Theresa Barbara Satkowski, in 1974 in Chicago.

McKenzly served in the Army from 1961 to 1969, where he was a second lieutenant. Mr. McKenzly Wilson was a retired quality control manager in the food industry, having also served as a manager with the U.S. Census Bureau. Mr. Wilson had a long history of leadership service with the Iowa/Nebraska State Conference of NAACP branches as well as serving with the Cedar Rapids NAACP branch. Mr. Wilson enjoyed playing golf in his spare time.

Mr. McKenzly Wilson is survived by his wife, Theresa Wilson of Cedar Rapids; and nine children, Antoinette Walker of Alabama, Robert A. Bowen of Alabama, Cassandra Barnes of Illinois, Bernadette Moore of Indiana, Adrienna Wilson of Arizona, Leslie More of Illinois, Wanda Kelly of Iowa and Jack Wilson of Oregon; 32 grandchildren; his brother, Willie Wilson of Iowa; his sister, Doris Sherman of Georgia; and three nieces and three nephews.

McKenzly was preceded in death by his parents and a son.
