Obituary

Randy G. "RD" Dvorak, 64, of Marion, died early Saturday, May 6, 2017, at UnityPoint Health-Saint Luke's Hospice Unit, Cedar Rapids.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Father Christopher Podhajsky. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2nd Street S.E., Cedar Rapids, where a rosary begins at 7:00 P.M.

Randy is survived by his wife, Melinda; daughter, Theresa Dvorak and fiancé Michael Volk, Cedar Rapids; stepchildren, Brad (Jackie) Quimby, Hickman, Nebraska, Matt Quimby, Lincoln, Nebraska, Amy (Tim) Gustafson, Hanover Park, Illinois, Todd (Holly) Fulton, of Virginia and John (Kelly) Fulton, Cedar Rapids; mother, Angeline (Trenda) Dvorak, Cedar Rapids; sisters, Carla (Ed) Neuhaus and Gwen Dvorak, both of Cedar Rapids, June (Herman) Andalcio, Chicago and Cindy (Steve R. Jones) Dvorak, Henderson, Nevada; nephews, Eric Neuhaus, Kenneth and David Andalcio.

He was preceded in death by his father, George and brother, Les Dvorak.

Randy was born May 31, 1952 in Cedar Rapids and was a lifelong resident of the Cedar Rapids and Marion area. He attended Saint Wenceslaus School through the 8th grade and graduated from Regis High School in 1970. Randy attended the University of Iowa. He was employed by the Cedar Rapids Parks Department and retired as a supervisor of the Tuma Soccer Complex in 2011.

Randy married Linda Fulton in October, 1982 at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids and they were later divorced. He married Melinda Quimby on January 6, 2006 in Cedar Rapids.

Randy was a lifelong member of Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He was a member of the Cadets of Saint George Branch W045 FCSLA (formerly Catholic Workman). Randy was a member of the Cedar Rapids Softball Hall of Fame as well as the Iowa Softball Hall of Fame.

Randy's family would like to thank all of the caring staff at UnityPoint Health-Saint Luke's Hospital and the Hospice Unit for the wonderful care he received. Thanks also to Father Ivan Nienhaus for his spiritual support of Randy and his family throughout his final illness.
