Raymond P. Brown, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died at his home Saturday, January 23, 2016.
Services: 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2nd Street S.E., by Rev. Del Bear. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Raymond is survived by 3 daughters, Angela (Shane) Williams, Bronson, Iowa, Rebecca Brown and Sara (Brad) Brecht, both of Cedar Rapids; 7 grandchildren and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Sarah (Keys) Brown, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Raymond was born May 31, 1949 in Cedar Rapids and was a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1967. He married Maureen Boston in 1969, they were later divorced. Raymond was employed at General Mills until his retirement.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and in 1970 was honorably discharged from the 1st Cavalry as an E5 Sergeant, having earned service medals and a purple heart.
Ray generously donated to many animal rescue organizations and was a lover of nature. He loved to tinker with cars and trucks and liked to own the newest and best tool for the job at hand.
Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Moomey-Vogel Post 727.
A memorial fund has been established and contributions will be given by the family to the many wildlife organizations to which he donated.
