Raymond E. DeLarm, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha.
Funeral Services: 1:30 P.M. Saturday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2nd Street S.E. Burial with military honors will follow at Czech National Cemetery.
Raymond is survived by his sons, Michael (Diane) of K-town, Germany and Mitch (Mary Lou Cantrell) of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Danny and Selina DeLarm, Savanna (Travis) Nunemaker, Christopher (Jennifer) DeLarm, Jesse Jordan, Dusty and Shanna Cantrell; eight great-grandchildren, Caden, Alexander, Amelia, Jameson, Jamarqus, Curtis, Oliver and Trenton; brothers, Richard and Donald DeLarm; sisters, Margie and Judy, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, infant son, Mark and son Raymond Thomas, his parents, Willis and Ruby (Taylor) DeLarm and brothers, David, Carl and Charles (Brenda) DeLarm.
Raymond was born March 8, 1925 in Maquoketa and farmed in that area as a young man. He married Ruth Johnson on November 11, 1956 in Waukon and Ruth died on April 1, 2005. Raymond had worked for Penick and Ford Co. and later worked at Amana Refrigeration until his retirement. Never one to be idle, he also was a self-employed roofer.
He was an Army and Coast Guard veteran of World War II and received the Medal of Valor for injuries received in the line of duty.
Raymond was a member of Cedar Rapids Grace Church and also the Adolph H. Schueler American Legion Post 217 in Atkins.
