Obituary

Rita Mae Pisarik, 99, of Marion, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Village Ridge at Marion.

Funeral Mass: 10:00 A.M. Friday at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Aaron Junge and Father Ivan Nienhaus.  Burial: Saint John's Cemetery.  Papich-Kuba Funeral Service serving the family.

Rita is survived by her sister-in-law, Regina Pisarik, Cedar Rapids; and also several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Rose (Trzil) Pisarik; sisters, Helen Polansky, Theresa McIvor and Mary who died in infancy; and brothers, Paul and Charles Pisarik.

Rita was born May 22, 1921 in Cedar Rapids where she lived her entire life until she moved to Village Ridge at Marion.  She was a 1939 graduate of Saint Wenceslaus High School.  Rita was employed as a stenographer at the Witwer Grocery Company from 1940-1946.  She worked at Penick and Ford from 1946 to 1977, first as a stenographer and later as a private secretary.  Rita was then employed as a secretary at Mercy Hospital for 6 years until her retirement in December, 1983.

Rita was a lifelong member of Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church where she played the organ for many years.  She loved music, especially classical, flower gardening and traveling.  She was also a wonderful cook and baker.

Rita's family would especially like to thank Avalon Hospice for the loving care they gave Rita over the past several months.

Memorials may be given to Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church and Camp Courageous.
