Roy Tamayo, Sr., 57, of Cedar Rapids, died on Thursday, June 26, 2014. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. on Monday, at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, Cedar Rapids, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.

Survivors include his former wife, Wendy McNabb; children, Melissa (Lyle) Ruzicka, Corina Robida, Lyna (Dake Dietrich) Berry, Roy (Rachel) Tamayo Jr., and Stefanie (Erick Schwab) Tamayo; siblings, Mary (Barry) Barker, Rosie (Rick) Kinney, Joe (Marlene) Tamayo, Steve (Cheryl) Tamayo, and L.D. Rodriguez; significant other, Martha Gordon; 21 grandchildren, including his oldest grandson Tyler Berry, serving in the United States Military, Fort Drum, New York and close friends Dave Farmer, and Luigi.

Roy was born April 12, 1957, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Joseph and Enemecia (Sotello) Tamayo. He worked in the construction and auto body industry for many years. Roy enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Anthony and Eddie; sister, Connie; brother-in-law, Gary; grandchildren, Austin and Alexus; and three nephews, Indio, Paul and James.
