Shelly Marie Sargent, 57, of Cedar Rapids, passed away at her home on Monday, July 25, 2022.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 6 ^th at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2 ^nd Street S.E., Cedar Rapids where relatives and friends may visit with the family after 10:00 A.M.

Shelly is survived by her fiancé, Brett Beeson; daughter, Marissa (her fiance, Jason Hefel) Yorgensen; grandchildren, Hayden Mochal and Niles Hefel; mother, Glenda (Joe) Stoll; father, Parnell (Claudia) Etteldorf; sisters, Carrie (Mark) Reilly and Angela (Steve) Schoenfeld; and nieces and nephew, Raigan and Carson Reilly and Alexis and Alison Peckenschneider.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her twin sons, Ethan and Nathan Yorgensen.

Shelly Marie Etteldorf was born December 8, 1964 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Parnell and Glenda Etteldorf.  She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1983.  Shelly married Marvin Yorgensen in 1986 and together they had twin sons, Ethan and Nathan and one daughter, Marissa.  They were later divorced.

In 1996, Shelly married Jeffrey Sargent and they enjoyed camping and cheering on the Hawkeyes at house parties.  They later divorced.

In 2004, Shelly and her high school sweetheart, Brett Beeson rekindled their love.  Together they enjoyed taking care of their home, landscaping and fishing together.

Shelly also loved spending time with her family, grandbabies, her dear friend Stacie Reeder, planting flowers, sewing, crafting, loving on her dogs and, of course, thrift-shopping.

Shelly's family would like to thank Dr. Ann Soenen and Dr. Samuel Wood of Mercy for their extraordinary care over the past 6 years during her courageous battle with GIST cancer.
