Steven
Dicken
April 17, 1956 – October 26, 2023
Steven J. Dicken, 67, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023. His family and friends will gather to remember Steve from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Papich-Kuba Funeral Service East, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Beth; children, Jennifer Kane, Matthew (Sarah) Dicken, and Amanda (Ronn) Putz, grandchildren, Dylan, Katelynn, Issac, Ivy, Liam, and Owyn; sisters, Linda (Allen) Howe and Karla (Norb) Sedlak; brothers-in-law, Mark Nutt and Dan Nutt; sister-in-law, Kathleen Nutt; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companions, Missy and Libby.
Steve was born on April 17, 1956, the son of Lloyd and Roma Jean (Thompson) Dicken in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1974. In 1982, Steve married Mary Beth Nutt. He spent his entire career working as a dispatcher, primarily for Westside Transport.
Steve's favorite place to catch up with friends and watch the Hawkeyes and Cubs was at the end of the bar at the Viking Lounge. He was also known to sing a passionate version of "Wild Thing" at karaoke. Steve loved being with his family, especially the fishing trips when he was younger and attending the many activities of his grandkids. They will miss his breakfast shipwrecks, smoking and grilling skills, the smell of his Swisher Sweets, and hearing the bell ring when the Hawkeyes score.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tommy; son, Adam; nephew, Norbi; niece, Tracee; and his in-law, Tom and Marge Nutt.
Memorials may be directed to Steve's family.
