Obituary

Sue (Kovacik) Roth passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, May 5, 2017 at the age of 102.

Family graveside services will be held Friday at the Czech National Cemetery.

Sue is survived by a daughter, Susan (Joe) Kerr, from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; granddaughter, Amy Wells (Andy) from Lake Forest, Illinois and grandson, Dr. Brian Kerr (Carey) from Traverse City, Michigan. Great grandchildren, Andrew Thomas Wells Jr., Abigail Ray Wells, Josh Kerr, Isaac Kerr and Emma Kerr. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Joseph Kovacik, two brothers, Paul and Mike Kovacik; two sisters, Ann Barta and Midge Gearhart; and her husband of 63 years, Raymond Roth.

Sue was born in Argo, Illinois on January 16, 1915 and was able to celebrate her 100th birthday surrounded by her family and the staff at Heritage in January, 2015. Sue loved fishing, playing pinochle, making kolaches and spending time with her family. She particularly loved her grandchildren, moving to be close to them when they were growing up, before returning to Cedar Rapids to be closer to her siblings.

The family would like to recognize and thank the staff from Heritage Specialty Care for 16 years of loving and safe care and also the Care Initiatives Hospice staff.
