Teresa Mae Sopousek, 96, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on August 2, 2025, at Westridge Care Center. Private services will be held. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Teresa was born on June 6, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Frank and Matilda (Schwankl) Snitil. She was united in marriage to Milton Sopousek on June 14, 1950, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.

Teresa graduated from St. Wenceslaus Catholic School in 1947. She worked as a baker for the Erskine School District. Teresa enjoyed reading, gardening, crossword puzzles, and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. She was a devout Catholic and lifetime member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Teresa and her husband were famous for making homemade Kolaches, Sauerkraut, and Czech bread dumplings. She loved spending time with her family.

Teresa is survived by her children, David Sopousek, Dennis (Gayle) Sopousek, Susan (John) Parker, and Christine (John) Grier; daughter-in-law, Sue Sopousek; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Donald Sopousek, daughter-in-law, Betty Stref, son-in-law, Rick Hurlbert, two great-grandchildren, Quentin and Luke; and siblings, Ray Snitil, Lillian Stava, and Frank Snitil Jr.
