Terrence "Terry" J. Pesek, 67, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center.
Terry was born on November 10, 1947 to Marvin and Millie (Grief) Pesek. He was a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids and graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School in 1966. Following graduation, Terry entered the United States Naval Reserves and served on the USS Iwo Jima in Vietnam. Terry returned to Cedar Rapids following his tour of duty and became a bricklayer with BAC Union Local 3 Iowa. His career began with B.A. Jensen Masonry and he later became co-owner of Marv Pesek Masonry. He retired in 2010.
On June 17, 1995 he married Debora Horak. Terry was a member of All Saints and Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Churches. He was an avid racecar fan who enjoyed races across the Midwest. Terry was also a great supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Bears. He treasured many canine companions throughout his life. Terry was a gentle soul who was cherished as a kind and loving husband, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Deb; sister, Mardean (Dennis) Cook of Cedar Rapids; many nieces and nephews and his faithful dog, Daisy May. Terry was preceded in death by his parents.
A vigil service will be held at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2nd Street S.E., on Friday, March 27th at 4:00 P.M. with visitation to follow until 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Father Christopher Podhajsky. Interment will be at Saint John's Cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Moomey-Vogel Post 727.
