Theresa Elizabeth Larson, 85, of Hiawatha, died at her home Saturday morning, November 21, 2015.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 A.M. Monday at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Father Christopher Podhajsky. Friends may call from 2 to 6 P.M. Sunday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2nd Street S.E. where a Time of Remembrance will begin at 5:00 P.M.
Theresa is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard E., two children, Richard G. Larson (Deb), Brandon, and Christine Ask (Michael Robinson), Hiawatha; son-in-law, Doug Louvar, Toddville; six grandchildren, Brian Larson, Joseph Larson, Tony Louvar, Tim Louvar, Jennifer Kjormoe and Ryan Ask; seven great-grandchildren and a sister Barbara A. Himes, Marion.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Louvar, and her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (Payer) Zeman.
Theresa was born April 25, 1930 in Cedar Rapids and was a graduate of Saint Wenceslaus High School. She married Richard E. Larson on August 12, 1950 in Cedar Rapids.
Theresa had worked as a buyer for Iowa Manufacturing Co., and as a bookkeeper for Nash-Finch Co. and Midland Industries. Later she managed the Bali Hai Estates Mobile Home Park and then Tower Terrace Mobile Home Park until her retirement in 1993.
Theresa was an active member of the Saint Wenceslaus Visiting Angels and the Calling Tree, making good-will visits and phone calls to home-bound parishioners. She also belonged to the American Legion Post 735 of Hiawatha as a member of their Auxiliary.
Following their retirement in 1993, Theresa and Richard enjoyed spending time at their cabin outside of Harpers Ferry. Their later years were spent traveling to California, Florida, Canada and an Alaskan cruise.
One of Theresa's favorite quotes was, "Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day."
