Obituary

William D. Jordan, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died at his home, Monday, January 23, 2012, following a brief illness. Services: 1:30 P.M. Thursday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 2nd Street S.E., by Rev. William Harnish. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, rural Coggon. Friends may call from 4 to 6 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

William is survived by 5 daughters: Judy Earls, Keokuk, Rosemary (Tim) Vanden Brink, George, Iowa, Terri Rivera, Indianapolis, Indiana, Mary Lou (Mitch DeLarm) Cantrell, Cedar Rapids and Sandra (Neil) Cole, Perkins, Oklahoma. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Brother: Elwood (Joann) Jordan, Cedar Rapids and a sister, Bonnie Beadle, Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen, his parents, Prosper and Mabel (Williams) Jordan, brother Eugene "Jiggs" Jordan and sister Betty Amber.

William was born December 23, 1934 in Granger, Iowa and came to Cedar Rapids from Oskaloosa when he was 19 years old. He married Ellen I. Fleming on October 25, 1961 in Galena, Illinois. She died June 11, 2005.

Bill was employed by the City of Cedar Rapids Sanitation Department for 30 years, retiring in 1991.

Bill enjoyed deer hunting, bowling and playing pool when he was younger. He loved watching his "Westerns" on television.
