Michael Papich was a Iowa licensed funeral director for more than 40 years. Having worked for funeral homes in Ames, Iowa and Waukon, Iowa, he purchased the Kuba Funeral Homes from Edward R. Kuba Sr. in 1996 and has owned and operated them with the assistance of his wife, Karen "Sue", since that time.
Michael and Karen Papich are members of Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church where Michael is an active member of the church choir and a lector. He is a member of 3rd Degree Council #5677, Knights of Columbus and 4th Degree Bowen General Assembly #269, Knights of Columbus. Michael is also a member and current president of Cadets of Saint George Branch #WO45 F.C.S.L.A. (formerly Catholic Workman). He is a member of both the National Funeral Directors Association and the Iowa Funeral Directors Association.
Michael is an extremely active member of the Cedar Rapids Czech community. He is a member and current president of the Federation of Czech Groups, member and current vice-president of Lodge Cedar Rapids #262 Better Life Insurance Association, member of Lodge Junior American Czechs #388 Czechoslovak Society of America (CSA), the Czech Heritage Singers, member and vice-president of Sokol Cedar Rapids, member of the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library and the Czech Heritage Foundation.
